I am in charge of taking care of clients and making sure we are respecting the agreement we signed. I have six colleagues in my department, including my manager.

There is a spirit of mutual helping within my team. We are an autonomous department with very international clients, so it’s enriching and interesting. There is no fixed routine, because there’s something different to do every day.

Once on site, I find out if there have been any incidents, and if so, I measure the degree of severity and decide whether or not to intervene. I respond to various client requests, talk to the Design and Transition departments, take stock with the Site Manager, catch up with the different technical teams and participate in internal meetings.

We must be reactive and proactive to ensure a good quality of service and to make sure projects are progressing steadily. We are very customer-focused, even if they have complicated requirements – we always manage to find a way to round off the angles.

There’s no such thing as a typical day for an Account Manager, but I always start my day by reading industry newsletters and LinkedIn to see what is going on and how it impacts my customer portfolio and Interxion in general. Then I plan my calls, contract negotiations and meetings, but I always have to be ready to prioritise afresh.

I love that I can directly enable businesses to do new things with the services we offer and
these changes can be seen in everyday life. Although what we sell remains the same, the actual customer solution can vary enormously. The variety among our customers and partners is what makes the job so interesting.

The wider Sales department has a lot of experience and industry knowledge. I constantly learn from my peers, and cross-country collaboration on customer projects is encouraged. There’s a strong focus on developing our sales skills and I have never worked for a company where such an emphasis is placed on this.

The growth phase in the industry right now, along with having the right people in my wider team and the variety across our customer portfolio, makes it very easy to be passionate about what I do. We need to have our finger on the pulse across the whole industry, which is really exciting.
